While One Battle After Another arrived with significant critical acclaim and is anchored by Leonardo DiCaprio’s consistently laudable performance, the experience ultimately felt uneven. The primary issue lies in a formulaic narrative arc that, through much of the first half, prevents the story from achieving genuine dramatic tension. However, the film executes a compelling late-stage resurgence—a much-needed injection of unexpected action and consequence in the second half—which finally gives DiCaprio’s talents the material they deserve and elevates the overall viewing experience.
