In 9th century China, a corrupt government wages war against a rebel army called the Flying Daggers. A romantic warrior breaks a beautiful rebel out of prison to help her rejoin her fellows, but things are not what they seem.
(* Our Score)
It's not known how much of House of Flying Daggers is true and how much is beautifully invented. The “House of Flying Daggers” itself is fictional, but the story is set against the very real Tang dynasty, a fascinating period of Chinese history marked by political intrigue, rebellion and great cultural flourishing.
And perhaps that is what makes the film so captivating: the fantastic fairies, breathtaking scenery and almost dreamlike martial arts may belong to legend, but the emotions feel profoundly real. Love is unpredictable — and perhaps the greatest force there is in human life. ❤️
