  1. I really loved this story; its emotional impact is incredible. My strong feeling is that the Monster's presence wasn't just about Conor's imagination, but that it belonged to his mother in some way. It feels like she knew this truth-telling figure, and that the Monster came to Conor not to save her, but to help him accept what she already faced. The final reveal in the sketchbook confirms this profound and heartbreaking connection. It's a masterful way to deal with grief.
